How to Be More Successful at Vendor Management

Effective vendor management requires more than monitoring service level agreements and keeping a watchful eye on things after the contract has been signed. Buyers can save themselves a lot of grief by examining certain criteria in advance that might not currently be part of their due diligence process.
Many companies seem to be aware of the fact that they need to improve their vendor management processes. In the latest Forrester’s Forrsights Business Decision-Makers Survey, Q4 2010, 48% of the respondents indicated that they will expand their vendor management capabilities.

As readers may remember, we were already to publish our mid-2011 update to our global economy report when the US deficit ceiling crisis, renewal of the European debt crisis, and other developments raised questions about the strength of the economic recovery. Given the deterioration in the economic outlook, we stopped publication to re-work our forecast to reflect those changes. Forrester Finds Companies Can Outsource Up to 82% of Workload

Offshoring is a big business for everyone involved. While the companies that offshore their work will look to save on cost, the companies that provide offshoring services will gain benefits by securing business and employment. A recent research by Forrester tries to analyze the staffing requirements of a company that is looking to offshore its work. The research provides information about the various stages of offshoring process and offers a comprehensive report on each of this stage.
According to the Forrester report, the offshoring process involves four stages; namely, Bystanders, Experimenters, Committeds, and Full Exploiters. These stages involve the initial processes where the client tries to understand the working methodologies of the service providers and develops a trust. During these four stages, the client and the service provider develop a good understanding about procedures such as specifications, incident management, and governance processes, claims the Forrester Research.

Big Indian Players Answer the Call to be Closer to US Clients
December 9th, 2009Coinciding with a turnaround in business sentiments in its largest market, top-tier IT companies such as Infosys, Wipro and HCL Technologies appear to be aggressively ramping up North America-based delivery capabilities.
While Infosys Technologies has bought McCamish Systems based in Atlanta, Georgia, HCL Technologies has completed the acquisition and upgradation of a data centre in Parsippany, New Jersey. In the last four months, Cognizant has announced the expansion of two of its delivery centres in Phoenix (Arizona) and more recently in Toronto, Canada.
