Accenture Acquires Brazilian Cybersecurity Firm Morphus

Accenture acquired IT security services provider Morphus, nearly doubling its cybersecurity footprint in Latin America’s largest economy.

Fortaleza-based Morphus is known for providing cyber intelligence, but much of its revenue comes from managed security services (MSS).

Morphus, founded in 2003, employs around 230 professionals and runs delivery centers in Recife, São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, in addition to the Chilean capital of Santiago.

Cyberattacks are not uncommon in Brazil, where malware called Infostealer often makes headlines by stealing employees’ passwords before penetrating their IT networks.

“Together with the capabilities and experienced leadership of Morphus, we will work as one team to help organizations build a cyber resilient business and better secure their digital core, their technology and supply chains,” said Paolo Dal Cin, Security Global Lead at Accenture.

Once the transaction is completed, Morphus’ research lab in Fortaleza will be renamed to “Cyber Fusion Center” and will take on the task of alerting customers to the potential threats lurking on the Internet.

Accenture acquired as many as 16 cybersecurity companies since 2015, including Real Protect (also based in Brazil), Sentor and Openminded.

The purchase of Symantec’s cybersec division was a game changer, as it brought with it a huge inventory of technical solutions as well as dozens of deep-pocketed customers operating globally.
