Argentinian airlines, in an effort to boost tourism, are offering major discounts on domestic flights after the government recently scrapped a minimum price regulation on commercial air travel.
Aerolineas Argentinas has posted flights for 499 pesos (US$18.20), FlyBondi slashed prices to 199 pesos (US$7.26), and Latam is offering flights between Buenos Aires and Cordoba for 449 pesos (US$16.34).
The government’s role in allowing low-cost carriers into Argentina is already a controversial issue in the country, according to Bloomberg, because “powerful labor unions warn it will lead to job losses at Aerolineas, whose employees staged a one-day strike on July 13”.
