Nubank just won the prestigious Marketers That Matter Award. In doing so, the 18-month old Brazilian fintech company became the first Latin American startup to win a marketing honor that previously has gone to the likes of Visa, Google, Netflix, and GoPro. It has differentiated itself by being a credit card company that is all about its app, allowing its three million users to do any type of transaction right on their phone. The name of the game for founder Cristina Junqueria is simplicity. “The word ‘nu’ means naked or nude in Portuguese, so that’s where we’re coming from,” Junqueria told Business Insider.
