Where do the best rums come from? That’s easy. Pick Puerto Rico’s Don Q for light rum, and Bacardi Silver is also a good mixer. For a great gold rum, go with Bacardi’s 8 Años or Flor de Caña from Nicaragua. For dark rum it gets interesting. Haiti’s distinctive Barbancourt and Guatemala’s Zacapa are top shelf, but if you are on a budget, Meyers is still delicious. Havana Club is a fantastic option — when you can get it. And don’t forget the Dominican Republic, which shows it’s the rum capital with both Barceló and Brugál! With rums like those who needs cognac?
