Africa’s BPO giant CCI Global launched a massive call center in Tatu City, in the outskirts of Kenyan capital Nairobi.
Situated within the expansive 5,000-acre Special Economic Zone (SEZ), the five-story facility now stands as Kenya’s largest call center, poised to inject over 5,000 new jobs into the local market in the near term.
CCI will be hiring for a wide array of positions in the facility; from call center agents to managerial roles.
The facility boasts eco-friendly features, designed to operate on nearly 96% renewable energy. Solar panels, natural air corridors and self-shading walls will be implemented to minimize the facility’s carbon footprint.
CCI claims to have invested more than US$150 million in Kenya since 2016. Across the African continent, the company’s total investment exceeds US$2 billion.
The Dubai-based company, which operates call centers in Egypt, South Africa, Ethiopia, Ghana, and Rwanda, has already set plans in motion to construct a second building within the same SEZ in Kenya. This expansion aims to double their Kenyan call center workforce to a total of 10,000 employees.
Furthermore, CCI has partnered with organizations like CareerBox Africa which empower unemployed youth, particularly women, with valuable digital skills. This collaboration aligns with Kenya’s existing initiatives such as the Digital Superhighway program, both aiming to create a skilled workforce for the future.
The call center’s launch coincided with the prestigious Elevate Africa Conference, a three-day event that attracted industry leaders, policymakers and stakeholders from around the world.
