Ci&T Moves Electronic Sales System to Cloud Based Google Platform for one of Brazil’s Largest Insurers

KING OF PRUSSIA, Penn. – June 27, 2012 – Ci&T, a Nearshore provider of value-driven web and mobile application services and software product engineering, announced today that it was chosen by one of Brazil’s largest independent insurance companies to migrate its electronic sales system to the cloud. Using the Google Platform, Ci&T created a hybrid on-premise and cloud architecture that will reduce service outages, shorten the sales cycle and improve sales effectiveness across the enterprise.

The Company charged its IT team to move its electronic sales system to a more reliable web platform. Feeling the effects of outages and downtimes, which led to revenue loss and compromised customer relationships, the Company was looking to minimize those occurrences while promoting sales effectiveness in the process. The IT team realized the new platform would have to be a hybrid environment – mixing both on-premise and cloud architectures. The Company looked for a partner to lead the integration so that its internal IT team could be freed up to focus on other bottom-line, revenue-generating activities.

The Company turned to Ci&T due to its industry-leading reputation for high-quality cloud services offerings. With more than 40 full-time employees working in five high-performance teams, Ci&T used a 100-percent  and Lean approach to provide the Company with a next-generation sales system that was accessible both on-premise and in the cloud. Unique features of the project include:

  • Google Platform in the Enterprise: The Company wanted an architecture that was highly reliable and scalable, which would help reduce outages and grow along with the business. Ci&T often employs the Google Platform in enterprise projects because of its high availability and developer-friendly features that allow it to move forward with migrations quickly and with little IT changes.
  • Integration a Two-Way Street: Ci&T created a hybrid environment for the Company, with some applications running in the cloud and others running on-premise. The on-site and cloud-based applications consistently synch with each other – and data that starts in the cloud can move to the mainframe and vice versa.
  • No Major IT Overhaul: Ci&T proved that major enterprises can have cloud or hybrid solutions without having to make major changes to their IT strategies. Taking advantage of the cloud, while keeping their own infrastructure and on-premise systems, is possible.

“Ci&T is one of the first companies to see the value of the Google Platform in the enterprise – its reliability, scalability and availability are second to none,” said Daniel Viveiros, Cloud Computing Services Manager, Ci&T. “We provided this company with a next-generation sales system quickly and with little disruption to the business – all while reducing infrastructure cost, increasing scalability and promoting business agility. This is one of the best use cases for Google App Engine in the enterprise in the world.”

Since working with Ci&T, the Company has seen a drop in service outages and disruptions and an improvement in sales effectiveness, which will continue as the rollout progresses. In addition, by leveraging the cloud in a hybrid environment, it will also been able to significantly save time, money and resources that would have otherwise gone toward hardware and software upgrades. The Company’s IT team will not have to spend time maintaining the new infrastructure, which will allow it to focus on bringing other technological innovations on board – helping the company differentiate itself in a competitive market.

Ci&T will be demoing its service offerings this week as part of the Developer Sandbox at Google I/O.

Google I/O is focused on the tech world’s latest web, mobile and social breakthroughs and bringing together thousands of developers who are turning them into tomorrow’s startups. Google I/O returns to San Francisco’s Moscone Center from June 27-29, 2012.

The Developer Sandbox, first introduced at I/O 2009, is a demo area where a wide range of developers who have built applications based on technologies and products are featured at I/O. Representing large and small companies, individual developers and a diverse collection of apps, these developers will be participating in the Sandbox to demo their applications, answer questions and exchange ideas.
