Equifax Expands LATAM Reach With Círculo de Crédito Deal

Equifax, a provider of data, analytics, and technology solutions for the financial sector, has agreed to acquire Mexico-based credit bureau Círculo de Crédito for $750 million, underscoring the strategic value of localized financial data as global firms seek to build more integrated credit infrastructure.

The acquisition strengthens Equifax’s position in Latin America’s fintech ecosystem by giving it access to one of Mexico’s largest repositories of consumer and commercial credit information. Mexico is one of the region’s most important markets for credit expansion, and the deal gives Equifax an established local platform with deep historical credit data.

By combining Círculo de Crédito’s data assets with its cloud-based technology and analytics platforms, Equifax aims to offer more standardized credit, identity and fraud prevention solutions across international markets. The transaction also illustrates how global financial data companies are increasingly using acquisitions of regional players to expand their data capabilities and support cross-border financial services.

Círculo de Crédito is Mexico’s only provider of both consumer and commercial credit bureau services. It serves more than 1,700 customers across banking, fintech, retail, telecommunications and small business lending, with a database of approximately 80 million validated identities and about 2 billion credit tradelines.

Equifax said the acquisition will also support financial inclusion in Mexico by expanding access to credit decisioning tools. Círculo de Crédito generated an estimated $134 million in revenue and $62 million in adjusted EBITDA during the 12 months ended June 30, 2026.
