French IT services firm Publicis Sapient acquired its Argentinean rival Practia, extending its footprints to half a dozen countries across Latin America.
Buenos Aires-based Practia serves over 1,000 clients in industries such as retail, telecom, healthcare and financial services,
Practia has more than 1,200 employees working from delivery centers in Chile, Mexico, Peru, Brazil, Colombia and Uruguay, in addition to Spain and the United States.
Practia recently attempted to develop innovative solutions in data analytics and artificial intelligence.
The acquisition will pave the way to provide nearshore services for clients in North America, Sapient said in a press release.

Sapient is no stranger to Latin America. It has a presence in Mexico, Costa Rica and Colombia, but a large majority of its 24,000 employees work from offices in India and Eastern Europe.
Sapient was founded in 1990 in Cambridge, Massachusetts. It was acquired by French multinational Publicis in 2015 in a US$3.7 billion deal.
In 2016, it was renamed Publicis Sapient after merging with two of its subsidiaries, Nitro and Razorfish. It continues to be headquartered in Cambridge.
The LATAM digital transformation market is growing at a CAG rate of over 15% and might be valued at US$207 billion by 2032, Publicis Groupe estimated, citing research reports from SPER.
There are several factors driving the growth, including increased acceptance of cloud-based solutions, rising demand for automation and artificial intelligence, and the expansion of e-commerce and digital marketing, Sapient added.
