The BPO industry has for decades positioned itself as a motor for job creation and economic growth in developing economies. From India, South Africa and the Philippines, to Costa Rica, Colombia and Jamaica, many countries have incorporated BPO operators into their strategies for economic development at a local or even national level.
Guatemala is already home to BPO operators such as Teleperformance, Everise, VXI Global Solutions and Capgemini. It has gradually garnered a reputation as a solid option for nearshore delivery. Like other countries, it has a dedicated trade group for the BPO industry, which seeks to push the growth and development of the sector and to turn Guatemala into a truly competitive player.
Nevertheless, the BPO Innovation Summit seeks to prop up Guatemala’s profile in the eyes of potential BPO investors who might not regard the country as highly as better-known locations in Central and South America, like Costa Rica and Colombia.
“Global supply chains have revolutionized the ways in which the world does business, and Guatemala is ready to seize the opportunities brought by those changes. The BPO Innovation Summit 2024 will focus on how global supply networks can accelerate growth and innovation in Guatemala,” the BPO Innovation Summit stated in a press release.
Attendants of the Summit will be exposed to speeches, debates and success stories that will help “decipher how to transform Guatemala into a regional hub for tech and economic development”.
Some of the topics to be discussed during the event include:
- BPO’s role in the economy and the growth of related industry sectors
- Changes in the global value chains, and the impact of said changes
- The role technology in general (and AI in particular) plays in business
- How government agencies and public policy can help to draw investment in a sustainable manner
- The capabilities required for innovation and growth
The list of speakers for the BPO Summit includes José Ramírez, President of Alorica’s LATAM operations; Robert Brillhart, Capgemini’s Digital Contact Center Head; Darryl Hill, Executive VP of Delivery and Operations at Everise; and Kirk Laughlin, Nearshore America’s Founder and Managing Director.
