Latin American nations are experiencing a huge increase of US students visiting the region to study abroad, with Colombia, Paraguay, and Honduras seeing the largest growth.
According to the Open Doors Report 2017 produced by the Institute of International Education, Honduras has seen a 24% increase in study abroad students from the US, followed by Colombia with 23.7%, but the largest increase is seen in Paraguay, at 81.3%.
Francisco Palmieri, Acting Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere, tweeted the information this week, adding that students from the US add to their host county’s understanding of American culture.
This direct boost of knowledge is a surefire way of improving the Nearshore industry, and is welcome news amid talk of wall building and border shutting.
