Less Overseas Students Choose the US

The number of new international students signing up to universities and colleges located in the United States decreased by nearly 7% last year, according to International Institute of Education data published last month.

This is the second year in a row that the number of new international students has gone down, reports the BBC.

Reasons for not choosing the US include the visa application process, the “social and political environment” in the country, the high cost of tuition and the “physical safety in the US” too.

Countries such as India, South Korea, Mexico and Saudi Arabia have seen the biggest falls but there has also been a decline in numbers from the UK, Germany and France.
