While the mojito is synonymous with Havana nights, this cocktail of rum and ice mixed with mottled sugar, lime, and mint is a staple throughout the region. From Caracas to Cartagena to Cancún to the Cayman Islands, the mojito is a uniquely Caribbean concoction. The Dominican Republic certainly serves its fair share to tourists and locals alike, and the nation recently set a Guinness World Record for the largest mojito ever made. Some 40 bartenders at 4-Jack’s Bar and Bistro in Punta Cana spent 90 minutes making a 3,519-liter mojito in a glass that was more than 8 feet, 6 inches tall. Hundreds reportedly got to drink from the beverage that contained more than 700 liters of rum and 300 liters of lime juice. There’s no word on how the rest of the night went but we imagine it made for a lively evening of salsa.
