Nokia Opens Tech Lab for Telcos and Data Centers in Mexico

European telecom giant Nokia has opened a technology lab in Naucalpan de Juárez, just north of Mexico City, to tap into the region’s surging demand for data center services.

The new facility is designed to accelerate innovation for telecom operators as well.

From Mexico, Nokia aims to support over 120 clients — spanning mobile and fixed-line operators to converged service providers — with a diverse suite of AI-powered solutions that optimize data center operations, including traffic management and cooling systems.

In recent months, the Finnish company has acquired optical networking specialist Infinera, teamed up with Microsoft Azure to supply switches and routers for data centers, and partnered with Nscale to build a robust portfolio of AI-driven management tools.

It has also joined forces with GPU leader Nvidia to co-develop the next generation of 6G AI-RAN mobile networks.

Beyond data center support, analysts say, the Mexican lab will serve clients managing fixed, IP, and optical network infrastructures, providing a space to test interoperability and performance of advanced technologies.

While the facility is expected to generate around 100–150 direct jobs, its broader ecosystem impact could ripple across the region, potentially creating thousands of indirect opportunities in Mexico’s expanding digital infrastructure sector.
