U.S. BPO provider Expert Global Solutions (EGS) claims that it has hired more than 1,000 former soldiers and their family members over the past 12 months. The Plano, Texas-based firm has more than 43,000 employees across the world.
EGS stated last year that it would provide more job opportunities for people that had worked for the US military. “Since that time, EGS has hired 745 service members, of which 498 were hired in 2013,” the company stated in a press release.
It has now partnered with the Department of Defense, which helps in identifying the skills of military spouses. EGS says it has hired more than 350 military spouses in the past year.
“We recognize the challenges that military life can bring and are excited to be able to offer this important population the opportunity to build a career,” said EGS, which is the parent company of APAC Customer Service, one of the largest US call center firms.
EGS is also a member of the 100,000 Jobs Mission Coalition. The coalition recently reported that 92,869 veterans have been hired through the third quarter of 2013; moving ever closer to its mission of hiring 100,000 veterans by 2020.
Thanks to President Obama’s healthcare law, the call center industry in the United States is going on a hiring binge. According to a recent report from CallCenterCrossing, a large number of companies are hunting for customer care agents and thousands of positions are still vacant across the nation.
