Ecuador’s capital city of Quito has been nominated for 20 categories of the World Travel Awards, sometimes known as the “Oscars of Tourism”.
The categories include South America’s leading destination; leading business travel destination; leading short vacation destination; leading city tourism office; and the leading destination of meetings and conferences in South America, which it won first place in last year.
Founded in 1993, The World Travel Awards are considered the creme de la creme of the global tourism industry, with cities such as Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and others also competing against the Ecuadorian capital.
