India’s IT services giant TCS says it will add more than 1,000 employees to its operations in the U.S. state of New Jersey over the next two years.
The India-based IT consultant has planned to accelerate its skill training programs in the country as part of building a pipeline of local IT talent.
“We are thrilled to have Tata Consultancy Services expand its footprint in New Jersey and invest in our future workforce by expanding its STEM education programs,” said New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy.
“TCS is creating thousands of highly-skilled jobs and delivering significant economic growth to New Jersey. Our economic mission trip to India in 2019 continues to bear fruit as we have seen deep investments from Indian companies in our state.”
TCS operates 30 delivery centers in the United States, and more than 3,500 of its employees are working in the state of New Jersey.
It is serving over 100 customers in the state, with artificial intelligence, machine learning, cloud computing, and enterprise software being its main offerings.
In addition, TCS is now among the top two IT employers in the United States, having recruited more than 21,500 employees in the past five years.
To overcome the talent shortage, TCS says it will widen the reach of its Ignite My Future in School (IMFIS) and goIT programs.
Considering its statement, over 42,000 students have been benefited from its skill training programs in the U.S. and Canada. “Overall, more than 2,900 students in New Jersey have engaged in goIT programming, through teaching curriculums and other programs,” the IT provider stated.
TCS’ Ignite My Future in School, a program for K-12 education, helps educators embed computational thinking into core subjects such as math, science, language arts, and social studies.
