Santiago is a great, livable metropolis with picturesque mountain vistas (when you can see them through the haze). But one complaint of some ex-pats there is that it lacks the pizzazz of other Latin American cities like Buenos Aires, Rio, and Mexico City. That’s just one of the reasons why Thelonious, in the capital’s vibrant, bohemian Bellavista district, is such a treat. With live jazz almost every night of the week (usually Tuesday to Saturday), it is a great haunt to hear some fantastic local and international acts while you enjoy a cocktail. The mood in the small enclave is laid back, but it offers an air of class and hipness that will ensure you enjoy your night out. (Photo: Thelonious)
