Argentina’s knowledge economy sector has crossed US$10 billion in annual exports for the first time, highlighting the country’s growing role in global professional and technology services.
Exports reached US$10.09 billion in the 12 months through March, up 11.7% from a year earlier, according to Argentine news outlet Los Andes, citing industry group Argencon.
That performance keeps the knowledge economy as Argentina’s third-largest export sector, behind only agriculture and energy.
The biggest contributor was professional services, including accounting, engineering, design, marketing, and legal services provided to international clients. These services accounted for 63.7% of total exports, generating about US$6.5 billion.
The IT industry was the second-largest driver. Exports of software, programming, video games, technology services, and specialized support are approaching US$3 billion and continue to grow, supported by strong global demand for digital services.
Argencon said the advances in generative artificial intelligence create both new challenges and opportunities for countries with specialized human capital.
Industry leaders say the next challenge is to build on the record and further expand Argentina’s international presence while creating more high-quality jobs in knowledge-based services.
