Amazon Web Services has introduced a new artificial intelligence-powered approach that redefines how software is built, placing AI at the heart of the development lifecycle.
Launched at the AWS DevSphere 2025 event in Bangalore, India, the new methodology — called the AI-Driven Development Lifecycle (AI-DLC) — enables developers to concentrate on high-level, strategic work, while AI assists in core tasks such as coding, testing, workflow orchestration and deployment.
By embedding AI into every phase of the software lifecycle — from planning and design to deployment and operations — AI-DLC aims to help organizations scale development efforts without compromising human oversight.
Swami Sivasubramanian, Vice President at AWS, described the methodology as “a practical approach to effectively apply AI at each stage of software development,” according to local media reports.
AWS has made AI-DLC freely available on its platform, with the option to integrate it as a custom workflow in Kiro. The company noted that early adopters, including S&P Global, Wipro, and HackerRank, have already seen significant improvements in speed and efficiency across their development cycles.
