Bogotá’s Tech Workforce Grows Faster than Other LatAm Cities: CBRE

Bogotá is rapidly consolidating its position as one of Latin America’s leading centers for digital talent, according to CBRE’s Scoring Tech Talent report.

The Colombian capital now has 110,580 technology professionals, marking a 30% increase over the past five years.

The city also produced 7,071 new technology graduates in 2024, surpassing regional peers like Guadalajara (Mexico) and San José (Costa Rica) in technology degree output.

The study, which analyzes 11 major technology hubs across the region, ranks Bogotá among the strongest markets for specialized job creation.

Technology salaries have surged 83% over five years, well above the Latin American average of 47% and the US average of 26%.

The average software developer salary in Bogotá reached US$34,544 in 2024, a 28% increase from 2019, reflecting both talent demand and the city’s growing competitiveness.

While larger markets such as Mexico City (320,000 professionals) and São Paulo (255,306) lead in workforce volume, Bogotá distinguishes itself with stable growth, competitive salaries, and strong educational pipelines.

The city’s relatively low cost of office space and housing—office rents at $23.21 per square foot and residential rents at $1,067 per month in 2024—further strengthen its appeal for software, engineering, and advanced manufacturing firms looking to expand in Latin America.
