German tech giant Bosch is ramping up its operations in Costa Rica, with plans to grow its workforce from 600 to 1,000 employees. The move signals Bosch’s intent to make Costa Rica its primary hub for backend operations.
The company, which has operated in Costa Rica for a decade, is hiring trilingual customer service representatives (fluent in English, Portuguese, and French), software developers, technical support staff, and accounting professionals for its shared service centers.
“Our growth is a reflection of the quality and capacity of Costa Rican talent,” said Paulo Maia, general manager of Bosch Costa Rica. “We’re developing professionals with specialized skills to consolidate our position as a global center of excellence.”
Over 30% of Bosch’s staff in the country already occupy specialized tech roles, aided by certifications and multilingual abilities. The firm plays a major role in digitalization, automation, AI, and process optimization, primarily exporting services to North America and beyond.
Bosch is also investing in local talent development through its “Zona Norte” project, partnering with schools in the Huetar region to train students for internships in technical departments. These internships offer a pipeline to jobs at Bosch, both onsite and remote.
Laura López, general manager of trade agency Procomer, praised Bosch’s decade-long journey in Costa Rica. “Their growth strengthens local supply chains and creates new opportunities. It showcases Costa Rica’s potential as a hub for global innovation.”
