Accenture and AWS Launch AI Hub in Mexico City

Accenture has joined hands with Amazon Web Services to set up a new artificial intelligence (AI) hub in Mexico City. The plan is to train more than 1,000 people and help companies start using AI in their day-to-day work.

The move comes within a year of AWS opening a data center in Querétaro as part of its new Mexico (Central) region. The company has also said it will invest about $5 billion in the country over the next five years.

According to Accenture, the new hub will help companies move from small AI trials to using the technology in real business situations. Accenture will guide firms on how to use AI in a way that makes business sense, including showing how much it will cost and what kind of benefits they can expect. This is important for getting approval from finance teams.

One of the biggest concerns is cost. Using AI at a large scale can push up cloud expenses, making companies cautious. To deal with this, the two firms plan to help businesses plan their spending from the start and show clear savings, so that bigger investments can be approved later.

The companies see opportunities across sectors such as banking, financial services, insurance, retail, manufacturing, media, gaming and sports.

In Mexico, demand is likely to be strongest in financial services, especially among fintech firms, digital banks and companies that already run most of their operations online.
