Accenture Signs Six-Year BPO Contract with RSA

Accenture has landed a contract with British insurer RSA for providing back-office service to the company’s operation in the United Kingdom. Financial details of the deal have not been disclosed.
The agreement comes barely a week after the insurance giant signed a seven-year deal with Indian outsourcing firm Wipro to manage its IT infrastructure across Europe. With a 300-year heritage, RSA also has operations in Canada and Latin America.
Under this six-year contract, Accenture will provide development, implementation and ongoing maintenance services for RSA’ IT applications in the United Kingdom and Ireland, including those related to customer relationship management, claims processing, commercial lines products, policy management, and back-office operations.
Darren Mackenzie, U.K. chief operating officer at RSA, said the contract comes after Accenture delivered “significant cost reductions and enhanced our operations as we aspire to achieve best-in-class performance.”
Across the world, insurance companies are outsourcing their operations to cut costs, comply with changing regulations, and standardize processes. According to advisory firm TechNavio, the global insurance BPO market is expected to grow an average of 5.2% percent year-over-year between 2013 and 2018.
Most of the providers administer and manage various services, which can include back-office systems, such as human resources or finance and accounting, as well as front-office services like contact centers.
“We are proud of our long history working with RSA to deliver cost savings and operational efficiency,” said Andrew Poppleton, managing director of Accenture’s financial services practice in the United Kingdom.
This new agreement complements an existing contract the two companies have for management consulting, application development, and management services.
