Brazil’s BRQ Acquires Weme to Accelerate Gen AI-Driven Innovation

BRQ Digital Solutions, one of Brazil’s major technology and digital transformation firms, has acquired Weme, a digital product studio, in a strategic move aimed at bolstering its capabilities in generative AI-powered software development.

Founded in 2017 by Carolina Kia, Wagner Foschini, and Maurício Bueno, Weme operates delivery centers in São Paulo and Campinas, with a team of over 110 professionals.

The company has built a strong presence in the financial sector, which accounts for approximately 70% of its revenue, serving and competing alongside major players such as Visa and BTG Pactual.

Following the acquisition, Weme will become the digital product studio within the BRQ ecosystem, supporting BRQ’s end-to-end service offering. However, it will continue to operate independently under the leadership of its founding partners, preserving its culture and agile model.

Weme has been recognized for its innovation since inception, but its growth trajectory accelerated significantly in 2023 with the acquisition of Braint, a software consultancy launched in 2020. The move strengthened Weme’s technological backbone and defied the typical market pattern — where tech firms usually acquire design studios. Braint, which recorded a 200% growth in two years, brought robust internal development capabilities aligned with Weme’s product and design-centric approach.

BRQ plans to leverage Weme’s design and product expertise in tandem with its Fusion platform, used for generative AI projects. Industry analysts believe the combination will allow BRQ to deliver hyper-personalized digital solutions, integrating data, technology and human-centered design.

This acquisition marks BRQ’s return to the M&A space after a three-year pause. Its last acquisition was QDois in 2022, a company specializing in data analytics and digital transformation.
