Cognizant Bulks up in Brazil with A Delivery Center in Sao Paulo

Cognizant has expanded its operations in Brazil with the launch of a new delivery center in the country’s commercial capital Sao Paulo.

This is Cognizant’s first major expansion in the region after it acquired Nordic IT/BPO provider Frontica with operations in Brazil.

Teaneck, New Jersey-based Cognizant, whose other delivery center is in the state of Parana, says “there is growing demand for digital business, operations, and systems and technology services” in Brazil.

In a news release, Cognizant said it would recruit experienced professionals as well as students from local universities and technical schools, including Centro Universitário da FEI and Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia de São Paulo.

Its skills development division, Cognizant Academy, would provide students with training in digital services, in addition to process and program management. “We are continuing to build talent across our range of services to develop professionals of global standards,” said João Lúcio de Azevedo Filho, Cognizant’s Country Manager in Brazil.

Cognizant came to Brazil in 2009 looking for opportunities to serve companies in the country’s lucrative oil & gas sector. Today it has about 40 clients, mostly in financial services, insurance, healthcare, life sciences, and manufacturing.

The expansion in Brazil would enhance ‘our operations’ throughout Latin America, Cognizant said, adding that it would better leverage its domain expertise and Brazil’s time zone advantages.

“Sao Paulo is the heart of Brazil’s economy and is a great location to deliver transformational programs for our clients,” Azevedo Filho added.
