Colombia has reached a landmark achievement in its tourism sector, welcoming a record 3,137,210 international visitors between January and August 2025. This represents a 5.3% increase compared to the same period in 2024, according to the Colombian Association of Travel Agencies and Tourism (ANATO).
The surge in tourism is largely attributed to enhanced safety measures, including an increased police presence at major centers such as airports, as well as significant improvements in transport infrastructure over recent years. The introduction of a digital nomad visa has also contributed to attracting long-term international visitors.
Leisure tourism remains the primary driver, accounting for 73% of bookings. Other key travel purposes include visiting friends and family (11%), group travel (8%), and business trips (7%).
The upward trend is expected to continue, with over 530,000 air reservations already made for the period from September 2025 to February 2026, reflecting a 5.2% year-over-year growth and setting another record for the country.
Colombia offers a diverse range of attractions, from the pristine beaches and lush landscapes of Tayrona National Park to the scenic Coffee Triangle. This rich variety ensures travelers enjoy a wide array of authentic and memorable experiences.
