Indian BPO provider Interglobe Technologies has expanded to Colombia with the unveiling of a delivery center in the capital city of Bogota.
The Gurgaon-based company says the Bogota center will be up and running very soon with an initial team of around 200 travel experts.
Interglobe provides multilingual customer care services for the travel and hospitality industry, counting several airlines in Latin America among its clients.
The Bogota office will serve as a regional hub offering voice, non-voice, and digital services in various local languages, to both global and regional clients, according to Interglobe’s press release.
“Europe and LatAm are key regions to our business; we serve some of the largest airlines and travel companies here, and our decision to increase investment is to provide more transformational efficiencies and near-shore options to our clients,” stated Vipul Doshi, CEO, Interglobe.
Interglobe is also exploring new technologies, like artificial intelligence (AI), for revitalizing service offerings. In August last year, Interglobe launched an AI-powered chatbot that helps people book flight tickets in a matter of seconds.
The expansion comes amid reports that Interglobe is up for sale. Equity investors, such as Blackstone Group and Apax Partners, are bidding for Interglobe, according to The Times of India.
With more than US$200 million in annual revenue, Interglobe has employed over 10,000 people across its 15 delivery centers around the globe.
Its parent, InterGlobe Enterprises, owns India’s largest airline IndiGo, and has huge interests in aviation, hospitality, airline management, and pilot training.
