Medellin’s Ruta-N Corporation claims to have created more than 3,000 jobs so far this year after helping no fewer than 55 tech companies set up offices in its business parks.
Ruta-N managed to attract US$9,902 million in investments during the period, with investments from IT/software companies accounting for 56%.
“Since the beginning of 2020, we have created 11,994 high-quality ICT jobs, helping up to 121 companies set up operations in the city,” said Iván Darío Castaño, Director of Ruta N.

A joint venture between the Medellin Mayor’s Office and telecom provider Une EPM, Ruta N was founded in 2009 with the sole aim of creating favorable conditions for science and technology companies in the city.
In 2013, it built a large software park in Medellin’s Seville district. Spread over 14 hectares of land, the park consists of three buildings often described as the “premier incubator” for local and international technology entrepreneurs.
However, a shortage of skilled professionals in the city threatens to derail the company’s future expansion, with reports suggesting there could be nearly 500 vacancies at company’s business park operations.
