Thoughtworks Appoints Longtime Accenture Exec Mike Sutcliff as New CEO

Thoughtworks Holding Inc. appointed former Accenture executive Mike Sutcliff as its new CEO, effective mid-June 2024.

Sutcliff will succeed current CEO Guo Xiao, who will remain as an advisor to ensure a smooth handover.

“Mike brings a proven leadership record and extensive experience in technology and business, which will be critical for Thoughtworks’ continued growth,” said Ian Davis, Chairman of Thoughtworks‘ Board of Directors.

The Board commended outgoing CEO Guo Xiao for his significant contributions. Xiao is credited with architecting a new operational structure, spearheading the development of Thoughtworks’ AI strategy and service offerings and ultimately tripling the size of the business.

Sutcliff joins Thoughtworks with over 32 years of experience at Accenture, where he played a pivotal role in establishing Accenture Digital. He oversaw a broad range of service lines and expanded capabilities in various areas.

Sutcliff led the development of the digital growth platform that became Accenture Digital, bringing together 23,000 professionals with expertise in digital marketing, analytics and mobility technologies.
