India’s Zensar Acquires US-based Professional Access

Indian software services and BPO firm Zensar Technologies has announced the acquisition of New York City-based e-commerce solutions provider Professional Access. Financial details of the deal have not been disclosed.

With annual revenue of more than US$30 million, Zensar offers several technology solutions, and has offices in Mexico as well as the United Kingdom.

Pune, India-based Zensar seems to have been attracted by the U.S. firm’s technology offerings for the retailing sector. Retailing is Zensar’s main vertical, and it sells Oracle EBS, Oracle Retail and Fusion Middleware solutions to its global clients.

Professional Access, an Oracle ATG Partner, counts the world’s major retailing firm among its clients.

Even after closing of the deal, Professional Access’ founders – Babu Venkatesh and Ashu Chahal – will continue to manage the firm independently, but the the U.S. firm’s Indian delivery centers will be integrated into Zensar’s local infrastructure.

“PA’s market leadership in Oracle e-commerce space and its strong management team is strategic to Zensar’s plan to increase its market share in the high growth e-commerce space specifically and the MRD segment in general,” said Harsh Goenka, chairman of Zensar.

This is Zensar’s third acquisition in the United States. In 2010, it acquired Massachusetts-based PSI Holdings Group Inc along with its subsidiaries, including Akibia Inc, Aqulla Technology Corp and Akibia B.V.

Then, in 2007, Zensar acquired ThoughtDigital, a New York-based company, for US$21 million, thus gaining access to Oracle technologies.
