Cognizant Technology Solutions has signed a definitive agreement to acquire San Jose-based Astreya, an IT managed services firm specializing in AI infrastructure and data center operations.
While Cognizant did not officially disclose the transaction terms, Reuters reported the deal values the acquisition at approximately $600 million. The move marks Cognizant’s latest M&A play, following its recent buyouts of 3Cloud and Belcan.
Founded in 2001, Astreya brings an established footprint in backend tech infrastructure, boasting a portfolio that includes six of the “Magnificent Seven” tech giants. The acquisition directly supports Cognizant’s broader strategy to design, build, and run environments for enterprise AI at scale.
“Astreya’s bespoke client AI solutions and its ecosystem partnerships anchored by Google Cloud Platform and ServiceNow will become key assets,” Cognizant said in an April release.
The company currently operates in more than 30 countries with a workforce of roughly 2,000 professionals.
The transaction underscores an aggressive global race to scale data center capacity to handle heavy AI workloads. According to Cognizant, integrating Astreya’s deep operational experience in complex data environments will immediately fortify the company’s competitive edge in a high-growth market segment.
“Astreya has redefined what it means to be a trusted partner in the AI era, embedding intelligence into every solution, without losing the human connection that drives real results,” said Romil Bahl, president and chief executive officer of the company.
