According to the study Brazilian Software Market: Panorama and Trends 2018, Brazil ranks 9th place in the world for software and services, with a market of US$18.6 billion.
The data, complied by ABES, shows that the industry is almost the size of Holland and Italy, who occupy the 10th and 11th positions, respectively, and slightly behind Australia, placed 8th. The total number of companies operating in the sector grew from 15,700 to 17,000 between 2016 and 2017.
“The year of 2017 showed a resumption in the growth of the IT sector in Brazil, after a difficult 2016,” says Jorge Sukarie (pictured), Chairman of the Board at ABES. “IT investments in the country grew 4.5% over the previous year, marking the beginning of a recovery that we expect to continue through 2018.”
