Edwin Colón is just 16, but that hasn’t stopped the enterprising young programmer from pursuing his new love. Though he grew up in the Dominican Republic believing he might become a physicist, Edwin recently began his “first real job” at Intellisys in Santiago. Creating an internal web page that will help employee management has only deepened the programming bug he first developed in January 2014. The ability to make something out of nothing is what he loves best about the work. “I can create whatever I can imagine,” said Edwin. He isn’t sure what’s ahead — aside from going to college, perhaps outside the D.R. — but Edwin is digging his experience so far and credits the company’s attention to detail as one reason he has already advanced beyond the amateur programming he was doing on his own before joining the firm.
