Google Creates $1 Billion Campus in New York City

With the development of a new $1 billion campus in New York City, Google will be positioned to more than double its headcount in the area over the next decade, according to a blog post by CFO Ruth Porat. The technology giant’s latest 1.7 million square foot “Google Hudson Square” campus will comprise an office at 550 Washington Street in Manhattan, as well as two buildings on Hudson Street.

Google already bought Chelsea Market, a shopping and office complex in New York,  for $2.4 billion earlier in 2018. Together the Chelsea and Hudson expansions will be core to the headcount increase. There are currently over 7,000 employees in New York working across Google’s various teams, from Search and YouTube, to Ads, Maps, and Cloud.
