Google Donating $2.1 Million to Mexico for Offline Education Platform

Google.org is donating US$2.1 million toward an offline education platform in Mexican classrooms, in order to give to teachers access to new content and practices.

Kolibri, an offline, open-source education platform, will be the main tool of the program, which is expected to reach 750 teachers and more than 24,000 students in 59 primary schools. The initiative gives students and teachers access to quality materials without the lack of internet access being an obstacle.

“Technology has brought many positive changes related to content and access generation, but there is still a danger that gaps between those who have access to the internet and those who do not will increase,” said the firm.
