India’s Firstsource Solutions Expands to Canada Amid H1B Visa Fee Hike

India’s IT and BPO major Firstsource Solutions has announced the launch of a new subsidiary in Canada, marking its latest international expansion.

The company, however, has not revealed whether it has set up a physical office in the country or how many employees it plans to hire there.

The Mumbai-based firm said the move aligns with its new business framework, “UnBPO”, which it describes as “service as a software.” The model aims to replace traditional, labor-heavy outsourcing with a technology-led, product-style approach to service delivery.

“Traditional BPO models no longer meet the demands of enterprises seeking agility and transformation,” said Ritesh Idnani, CEO of Firstsource Solutions. “UnBPO is our response to this urgent need for reinvention.”

The Canadian entry also comes at a time when the United States has sharply increased H-1B visa fees, prompting Indian outsourcing firms to diversify their North American presence.
