Indian IT/BPO firm Firstsource Solutions announced the acquisition of European BPO vendor Ascensos.
Based in Motherwell, Scotland, Ascensos has a strong reputation for providing customer service to retail and e-commerce businesses.
With over 3,000 employees across the UK, South Africa, Romania and Trinidad & Tobago, the company serves several supermarket chains, including Aldi, John Lewis and Wickes.
Mumbai-based Firstsource views Ascensos as a strategic acquisition as it increasingly focuses on selling AI and automation solutions.
In addition to cross-selling tech solutions, Firstsource believes that Ascensos’ nearshore capabilities will enhance its existing farshore operations, creating opportunities to serve Ascensos’ clients through its offshore centers in the Philippines.
Founded in 2015 by John Devlin, Dermot Jenkinson and Katrine Young, Ascensos has grown at a steady pace, securing contracts with several retail and e-commerce companies across the US and Europe. In 2023, the company reported £64.1 million (US$85.3 million) in annual revenue.
Firstsource, which employs 27,000 people and is listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange, primarily serves clients in the banking, healthcare, energy and utilities sectors.
This acquisition also strengthens Firstsource’s nearshore presence, complementing its existing office in Mexico and further diversifying its geographic reach.
Ascensos will continue to operate independently, with John Devlin remaining as CEO.
