Jamaica’s investment promotion agency JAMPRO appointed one of its most senior executives, Shullette Cox, as its president.
The announcement comes more than a month after her predecessor, Diane Edwards, ended her nine-year tenure with the organization.
Under Diane’s presidency, Jamaica’s BPO industry more than quadrupled its headcount, going from 12,000 employees in 2014 to 54,000 today.
Cox has effectively been JAMPRO’s acting president since January 2 and is credited with improving Jamaica’s ranking on the World Bank’s Ease of Doing Business Index.
“Shullette has helped to drive the execution of numerous government reforms that have led to an increase in Jamaica’s global ranking on the doing business report, including reforms that moved Jamaica from twenty-first in starting a business to number six in the world and leaders in the Caribbean,” the agency said in a press release.

In addition to JAMPRO, she is also a board member of the Development Bank of Jamaica’s Credit Enhancement Fund (CEF), the Cannabis Licensing Authority (CLA) and the Jamaica International Financial Services Authority (JIFSA).
Cox said she is humbled, grateful and excited to be given the opportunity to lead JAMPRO’s team at this critical juncture in the economic development of Jamaica.
