The Jamaican government has set aside 200,000 square feet at the Central Sorting Office in Kingston for BPO and call center operations to make room further growth — beyond the 20,000 new jobs the industry has already added to the nation in 2015. It expects that this building can house some 5,000 new jobs, and it has already leased 50,000 square feet to GraceKennedy Limited, per the Jamaica Observer. “You would be amazed to see some of the operations in these call centers, where Jamaicans are providing highly sophisticated business process services on behalf of international clients,” said Phillip Paulwell, Jamaica’s minister of science, technology, energy, and mining.
