Nestled in the Ciudad Vieja neighborhood of Montevideo, Urugauy, La Fonda offers a cozy atmosphere and a delicious — yet limited — lunchtime menu.
When arriving, you are greeted with a fruity glass of wine, and will often get to enjoy a sample of the restaurant’s limoncello (an Italian lemon liqueur) made by Mario, “the architect of everything”, as some diners call him.
The menu, while small, features its own mouthwatering twists on fish, meat, chicken, and pasta, which is made on premises by talented local chefs.
Due to most of the area being shut down on Sundays, this is a great spot to visit at the end of the week for a lazy wine and a quiet, relaxing lunch.
