The US Embassy in Managua, Nicaragua has been closed to the public due to widespread, unpredictable violence and traffic disruptions, as statement from the embassy said.
As of June 1, 2018, it will remain closed until further notice.
US citizens should be reminded that Nicaraguan law forbids foreigners from participating in protests, demonstrations, and marches.
Also, US citizens have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel in the capital, especially near the main downtown roundabouts and universities.
Limited emergency consular services will be available by telephone only, and regular appointments will be rescheduled as quickly as possible.
