During last year’s Nexus event, Francisco Palmieri, Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Caribbean and Central America in the Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs at the US State Department, stated that “we are at a historic moment in the Americas”, emphasizing the significant role the Western Hemisphere plays in the US economy.
He also highlighted the need for SMEs in the region to “think globally” and outlined the U.S. initiatives designed to assist these types of businesses in places such as Jamaica.
Palmeri’s address highlighted that if the U.S. continues to evolve its approach to countries such as Cuba, the region will only benefit.
