As Apple has already done with its iPhone and LG is slated to do in the future, Samsung has announced it will start making a cheaper version of its signature phone to sell in emerging markets. While demand is high in places like Brazil, Mexico, China, and India, the price point of the companies’ top devices is simply too high for many in these large-population countries. Enter the so-called Galaxy C, with a 5.2-inch screen and a price tag around $300. That still isn’t cheap, but as the new Galaxy S7 continues to raise the stakes even higher, even this cost will allow more people to get on the Galaxy train. And when it comes to innovation and general tech savviness across the globe, the more people who have cutting-edge smartphones, the better.
