Costa Rica Capital San Jose Blows its 281st Birthday Candles

Costa Rica’s capital city San Jose (also affectionately known as “Chepe” by local residents) is celebrating its 281st anniversary this Sunday and throughout March, with a number of events and activities taking place around the city.

The birthday party is organized by the municipality of San Jose as part of Transitarte 2018, a major summer festival that combines culture, art, music, dance, and theater.

The celebrations will attract book signings, video presentations, markets, food trucks, a collection of Costa Rican products, amateur boxing matches, concerts, and various workshops.

These “actividades especiales” take place at various locations in the city. For more information, click here.
