SurveyMonkey, an online survey platform, has expanded its global footprint by establishing a new office in Heredia, Costa Rica — marking its formal entry into the Latin American market.
The office currently employs 40 staff members, with plans to increase headcount by 30% by the end of the year, according to company officials. The majority of new hires are expected to be in customer service and marketing roles.
SurveyMonkey generates revenue by providing tools for creating and analyzing surveys used across various functions, including market research, customer satisfaction, employee engagement, product feedback and event registration.
The company operates in roughly half a dozen countries, including the United States, India, and Canada. It offers services in Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese to cater to its growing Latin American user base. Currently, SurveyMonkey reports having 1,900 paying customers in the region, including 500 in Costa Rica alone.
Globally, the company claims to process responses to over 20 million survey questions each day. As of 2022, SurveyMonkey employed around 1,400 people worldwide. Recent estimates from LinkedIn suggest the number remains between 1,400 and 1,433.
“SurveyMonkey’s expansion into Costa Rica is poised to support innovation and contribute to the local economy,” said Eric Johnson, chief executive officer of SurveyMonkey. “Our on-the-ground team is already a standout group of leading minds who are enabling us to better build and sell our products locally.”
