TCS to End 2021 with 2,300 Employees in Uruguay

Indian IT services firm Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is ending 2021 with more than 2,300 employees in Uruguay, where it began its LatAm operations in 2002.

Thanks to its goIT talent development program, TCS has managed to overcome skill shortage in the tiny South American country with less than 4 million people.

TCS added 400 professionals to its local workforce this year alone, almost 200 of them had undergone training at its own center.

Mumbai, India-based IT services giant launched its training center in Montevideo a year after the launch of its operations in the country.

Interestingly, today most of its employees in the country are its own former students.

In a 2019 interview with Nearshore Americas, the company’s former executive Gabriel Rozman said TCS had become a training ground for young professionals, adding that many professionals it trained had later launched their own startups.

Considering a report by a local news outlet 180.com, TCS inspired many local graduates to pursue a career in IT services.
