American biotech giant Thermo Fisher Scientific expanded its operations in Costa Rica, adding 120 positions to its shared services center.
Most of these new roles are in IT, customer service, financial analysis, accounting, credit and collections.
“Our Costa Rican operations, through the shared services center, have enhanced the agility of our financial processes by implementing standards and eliminating redundancies. This has been fundamental to improving our business in the North American market,” said Francisco Maroto, Senior HR Manager at Thermo Fisher.
Based in Waltham, Massachusetts, Thermo Fisher began operations in Costa Rica in 2011 and launched its shared services center five years later, citing the Central American country as an ideal location for back-office services.
Currently, the company employs over 900 people in Costa Rica, with plans to further increase its headcount in 2025.
