Tim Hortons Launching in Mexico Despite NAFTA Woes

Although concerns are arising that NAFTA could come under threat, Mexico and Canada are developing new relationships amid this uncertainty, revealing the strength of the bond between the two nations.

One of Canada’s most established and well-known brands, Tim Hortons, is bringing its coffee, baked goods, and sandwiches to Mexico, making it the chain’s first foray into Latin America.

Restaurant Brands International, the Canadian fast food chain that owns the brand, said Friday it is forming a joint venture with a group of investors in Mexico.

“Mexico has a thriving coffee market, so we are very optimistic about the opportunity to grow the brand across the country,” said Daniel Schwartz, CEO of Restaurant Brands International, in a statement.
