Uruguay’s Global Services Exports Hit $4.1 Billion in 2024

Uruguay’s global services sector continued its steady climb in 2024, exporting $4.101 billion worth of services. Total service exports reached $7.099 billion, but the strongest momentum came from global services, which grew 4% from the previous year.

Global services have changed the structure of Uruguay’s exports. A decade ago, they made up 41% of all service exports. In 2024, their share climbed to 58%.

Business, professional, and technical services formed the largest block, bringing in $2.056 billion. Computer services followed with $1.316 billion, maintaining their 2023 level. Financial services added $373 million. Combined, these segments account for 90% of Uruguay’s global services exports.

Regionally, Uruguay is a heavyweight. Global service exports equal $1,200 per inhabitant, second only to Costa Rica in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The sector now represents 5% of GDP, placing Uruguay among the most specialized global-services economies in the region.
